Ah, springtime in the desert

Well, it's not REALLY spring, but compared to other parts of the country we're doing pretty well. I'm even getting into the gardening spirit.  Last week, I bought & planted a packet of Black Krim tomato seeds, a heirloom variety that is supposed to handle heat quite well, and a heirloom leaf lettuce.  The tomatoes are sprouting like crazy, the lettuce is a little slow but I saw a little sprout this morning.  Today I received a packet of heirloom vegetable seeds that include a tomato variety called Oaxaca Jewel (a Mexican variety) and greasy grit pole beans.  Along with the contender beans I have from last year, I should be able to plant an all heirloom garden
